Natco Pharma Ltd announced on Monday that it has raised its investment in eGenesis Inc, a United States-based biotechnology company, to $16.70 million from the previously announced $14 million. The revised structure will see Natco Pharma (Canada) Inc contribute $13.70 million while its US subsidiary, Natco Pharma USA LLC, will add $3 million to the funding round.
The investment involves the purchase of convertible promissory notes carrying an 8 per cent annual interest rate. The transaction is structured as a cash consideration with no additional equity shares being acquired at completion, which is scheduled for October 31.
Natco had previously invested $8 million in eGenesis in 2024 through its Canadian arm. Upon completion of the current transaction, the company's cumulative investment in the biotech firm will total $24.70 million, establishing a significant stake in the regenerative medicine innovator.
The Indian pharmaceutical company said the investment aims to support breakthrough therapeutic programmes targeting critical unmet medical needs. The expanded commitment underscores Natco's strategic focus on next-generation treatments and its confidence in eGenesis's scientific pipeline.
