National Award winner Sumanth Bhat brings horror-comedy 'Shankarabharanna' to Kannada cinema

'Shankarabharanna', an upcoming Kannada film blending horror and comedy, marks a genre venture for filmmaker Sumanth Bhat, whose directorial debut 'Mithya' earned him critical acclaim and a National Film Award.

Bhat is collaborating with actors Shine Shetty and Tanvi Ram on the project, which capitalizes on the director's growing reputation within Kannada cinema following his award-winning first feature. The combination of horror and comedy elements signals the filmmaker's willingness to experiment beyond the dramatic territory explored in 'Mithya'.

The film represents an interesting shift in tone for Bhat, who has already demonstrated his storytelling prowess at the national level. With established performers like Shetty and Ram on board, the production appears positioned to appeal to audiences seeking lighter entertainment fare while maintaining the artistic sensibilities that marked the director's earlier work.

Details regarding the film's plot, production timeline, and release date remain under wraps. The project adds to a growing slate of genre-hybrid films emerging from the Kannada film industry in recent years.
