Navitas Solar is preparing a ₹10,000 crore investment programme to establish an integrated manufacturing ecosystem across India's solar value chain, moving beyond its current module production operations.
The Gujarat-headquartered company intends to develop capacity in solar cells, ingots, wafers, and battery storage systems alongside existing module manufacturing. The expansion plan encompasses new facilities across Gujarat and Maharashtra, positioning the manufacturer to capture greater value across the solar equipment supply chain.
The investment marks a significant consolidation of Navitas Solar's vertically integrated operations as India's renewable energy capacity additions accelerate. By developing upstream semiconductor-grade silicon processing alongside downstream battery storage capabilities, the company aims to reduce dependency on imported components and enhance operational margins.
The expansion timeline extends over five years, reflecting the capital intensity of establishing cell and ingot manufacturing facilities that require substantial infrastructure investments and technical expertise. The programme aligns with India's broader push to develop domestic solar manufacturing capabilities and reduce reliance on imports from China and Southeast Asia.
