Navy seizes P100 million in contraband across Western Mindanao

PAGADIAN CITY — The Philippine Navy's Western Mindanao command has intercepted significant quantities of contraband valued at around P100 million across three separate maritime operations conducted between August 28 and September 3.
Authorities reported that the enforcement actions resulted in the confiscation of undocumented diesel fuel worth P72.2 million, along with smuggled foreign-brand cigarettes and a motor vessel valued at P27.2 million. The operations targeted illegal maritime activities across waters under the Naval Command Western Mindanao's jurisdiction.
The seizures represent part of ongoing efforts by Philippine naval forces to combat smuggling and illegal trafficking in the strategic waters of Western Mindanao. Maritime interdiction operations remain a priority for regional naval commands working to secure Philippine shipping lanes and territorial waters.
The Naval Command Western Mindanao is responsible for maritime security operations across Zamboanga del Sur and surrounding coastal provinces. Officials have indicated that enforcement patrols will continue to target vessels engaged in contraband smuggling and other illegal maritime activities.
