NBI considers passport cancellation for Leviste after arrest warrant
The National Bureau of Investigation is weighing whether to request the cancellation of Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste's passport and travel authority following the issuance of an arrest warrant against him.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is examining the possibility of seeking a passport cancellation and travel ban for Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste in the wake of an arrest warrant issued against him, according to NBI Director Melvin Matibag.
Matibag disclosed the development on Wednesday as the agency announced details of the warrant. While the NBI has not yet made a final determination, the move represents a potential escalation in measures to restrict the congressman's movement should authorities decide to pursue it.
The passport cancellation option emerged as part of the investigative process following the arrest warrant's issuance. Such measures are typically considered in cases where authorities seek to prevent the subject from leaving the country pending legal proceedings.
Representative Leviste has not issued a public statement in response to the NBI's announcement. The congressman's office could not be immediately reached for comment on the possible travel restrictions being considered by the agency.
