MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday it has identified 10 suspects linked to an alleged international drug trafficking operation that transported a substantial quantity of methamphetamine from Laos into Philippine territory.
The 521 kilograms of suspected 'shabu' were reportedly transported aboard a private jet chartered for US$49,500, equivalent to approximately 3.1 million pesos. Investigators have classified the identified individuals as persons of interest in the smuggling case.
The NBI did not disclose additional details regarding the suspects' identities, roles in the alleged operation, or current status of the investigation. The agency has been actively pursuing leads in the case as part of ongoing efforts to combat large-scale drug trafficking networks operating across Southeast Asia.
The seizure highlights persistent challenges Philippines law enforcement faces in combating narcotics trafficking through unconventional smuggling routes, particularly involving private aviation channels that bypass standard border controls.
