NBI links 'Boyet' Toledo to Laos drug case amid multiple pending charges

MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation has linked former pilot Rioklyn Pizarras Toledo, known as "Boyet," to an alleged attempt to smuggle illegal drugs from Laos into the Philippines, NBI Director Melvin Matibag said Tuesday.

Matibag disclosed that Toledo is facing multiple criminal cases in connection with the investigation. The NBI has included Toledo among the persons of interest being pursued in relation to the cross-border drug trafficking attempt.

The development marks another angle in the NBI's ongoing investigation into the alleged smuggling operation. Authorities continue to gather evidence and pursue leads connected to the case as they work to establish the full scope of the alleged criminal network.

The NBI has not yet released additional details regarding the nature of the specific charges Toledo faces or the timeline of the investigation. The case underscores persistent challenges Philippine law enforcement agencies face in combating transnational drug trafficking operations in the Southeast Asian region.
