NBI seeks travel ban for Leviste, others in alleged honey trap case

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) plans to request an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) from the Department of Justice against Batangas Representative Leandro Leviste, former Negros Oriental Representative Jacinto "Jing" Paras, and five other individuals implicated in the alleged scheme against the executive secretary.

The ILBO would restrict the named individuals from leaving the country while investigations proceed into their alleged involvement in the honey trap operation. NBI Director Melvin Matibag confirmed the agency's intention to pursue the request with the DOJ.

The alleged honey trap plot has drawn significant attention due to its targeting of a high-ranking government official. The investigation has identified multiple individuals suspected of orchestrating or participating in the scheme, prompting the NBI to take steps to prevent potential flight from the jurisdiction.

The issuance of an ILBO represents a standard investigative measure in cases involving serious accusations. The bulletin would place the individuals on a watchlist at all ports of entry and exit, effectively preventing them from traveling abroad unless otherwise authorized by authorities.

The case remains under investigation as the NBI gathers evidence and conducts interviews related to the alleged plot.
