NC leader seeks action against IAS officer over alleged misconduct in J&K

National Conference MLA Tanvir Sadiq has written to the Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary, raising concerns about the conduct of IAS officer Kumar Rajiv Ranjan, who is accused of using abusive language toward a colleague during an official meeting.

Sadiq said the matter warrants serious attention given the seniority of the officer involved and the nature of the allegations. He pointed out that in a fully-fledged state, such conduct would typically result in the officer being attached to the General Administration Department pending a formal inquiry into the incident.

The MLA's intervention highlights growing concerns about administrative standards and accountability within the J&K administration. The allegations against Ranjan reportedly emerged following a heated exchange during official proceedings, though specific details of the incident remain unclear.

The development comes amid broader scrutiny of administrative practices in the union territory since its restructuring in 2019. Officials and political leaders have previously raised issues regarding procedural adherence and professional conduct among senior bureaucrats.
