NCERT Unveils Revamped Class 9 Social Science Textbook

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has unveiled a fresh edition of its Class 9 Social Science textbook as part of its ongoing curriculum modernisation initiative. The new textbook, titled 'Understanding Society: India and Beyond,' will become available to schools and students from September 29, 2026, marking the latest update in NCERT's educational materials for secondary classes.

The revised curriculum is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of social structures, historical contexts, and contemporary issues spanning both India and the broader global landscape. The updated content reflects evolving pedagogical approaches to teaching Social Science at the secondary level, incorporating recent developments in the field.

INSTITUTIONS AND SCHOOLS across the country will receive the new textbooks ahead of the scheduled rollout date, allowing educators time to familiarise themselves with the revised material before the academic year progresses. The publication represents NCERT's commitment to regularly refreshing its educational content to align with current standards and learning objectives.

This release is part of NCERT's broader initiative to strengthen foundational knowledge in Social Science subjects including history, geography, civics, and economics for Class 9 students across Indian educational institutions.
