MANILA — The National Capital Region Chief Prosecutors Association Inc. has endorsed Supreme Court Associate Justice Rodil Zalameda as its preferred candidate for the next chief justice position.
Zalameda's professional background spans nearly three decades in the Philippine judicial system, beginning with his career as a public prosecutor in Mandaluyong City in 1995. He advanced steadily through the ranks, eventually assuming the position of city prosecutor in 2002 before transitioning to higher judicial roles.
The endorsement from the NCR prosecutors' group marks a notable show of support from legal professionals with direct knowledge of Zalameda's work in the prosecution service. The backing underscores his extensive experience in the country's justice system and his progression from the ground level of law enforcement.
Zalameda currently serves as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, a position from which the next chief justice may be selected. The endorsement adds to ongoing discussions regarding the succession to the top judicial post.
