NCRC Rescue Drive Frees Over 3,800 Children from Labour
India's National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has rescued more than 3,800 children involved in labour through a nationwide campaign. The operation has also led to the registration of over 575 first information reports against offenders.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCRC) has liberated 3,800 children from child labour situations across the country through its special "Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation" campaign. The intensive drive, aimed at identifying and protecting vulnerable minors engaged in exploitative work, represents a significant intervention in combating child labour across Indian states.
As part of the operation, law enforcement agencies have registered 575 first information reports against individuals involved in child labour practices. These cases cover a range of violations including trafficking, forced labour, and employment in hazardous occupations—all prohibited under Indian labour laws.
The rescue and rehabilitation campaign reflects growing efforts by child protection authorities to identify children in vulnerable situations and provide them with support services. The rescued children are being provided rehabilitation and counselling services to facilitate their reintegration into education and mainstream society.
Child labour remains a persistent challenge in India, with vulnerable populations in rural and urban areas at heightened risk. The NCRC's intervention underscores the government's commitment to enforcing child protection laws and safeguarding the rights of India's youngest and most at-risk citizens.
