NDA sweeps Andhra Pradesh local body elections in three southern districts

The Telugu Desam Party-led NDA alliance demonstrated considerable electoral momentum across three key southern districts of Andhra Pradesh, capturing municipal corporation and municipality elections in Kurnool, Nandyal and Anantapur. The results reflect shifting voter preferences in the region as local body elections continue across the state.

In Kurnool Municipal Corporation, TDP candidate B. Vijaya Pratyusha emerged as the victor, securing her position in the high-profile civic election. The TDP's success in the Kurnool contest marked a significant win for the NDA coalition in one of the district's most important local bodies.

However, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) mounted a notable challenge in Nandikotur municipality, where an energetic campaign by youth leader Byreddy Siddharth Reddy proved decisive. The YSRCP won the Nandikotur municipality election by a commanding margin of over 2,800 votes, demonstrating residual support for the party in certain pockets despite the broader NDA momentum elsewhere in the region.

The mixed results highlight the competitive nature of Andhra Pradesh's local body elections, where regional parties continue to contest aggressively even as state-level political realignments have favored the NDA coalition. Election officials are continuing to tabulate results from other municipalities across the three districts.
