The demonstrations at the New Delhi landmark saw participants from student organisations and civil society groups attempt to gather despite restrictions imposed in the district. Delhi Police registered cases under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita dealing with disobedience of lawful orders, obstruction and assault of public servants in connection with the Friday protest.

Detainees included AISA national president Neha Bora, activist Yogendra Yadav and senior advocate Prashant Bhushan. The AISA stated that senior advocates Kapil Sibal, Nitya Ramakrishnan and Pallav Sisodia also participated in the protest action.

Police invoked Sections 223(a), 221, 132 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the protesters. The legal provisions relate to disobedience of lawful orders by public servants and obstruction of government functioning. Prohibitory orders had been imposed in the New Delhi district ahead of the planned gathering.
