LUCENA CITY — The Department of Health (DOH) in Calabarzon has vaccinated 476,679 children against measles and rubella as part of an ongoing supplemental immunization campaign, the agency reported Friday.
The vaccinations represent 35.7 percent of the target population in the region, which encompasses Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon provinces. The campaign reached its ninth day on Thursday, Aug. 20, according to DOH officials.
Health authorities are intensifying efforts to increase vaccination coverage, calling on parents and caregivers to bring their children for immunization. Measles and rubella remain significant public health concerns in the region, prompting the expanded vaccination initiative.
The DOH has not announced specific targets or completion timelines for the campaign, though the agency indicated the drive would continue to expand vaccination access across the five-province region.
