KUALA LUMPUR — Nearly 800 veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) have successfully transitioned into civilian employment through the Kerjaya Kedua Perwira initiative, according to Defence Ministry officials. The programme, designed to support military retirees and prospective veterans in their career shift, has proven instrumental in bridging the gap between military service and civilian work opportunities.
Among a total pool of 1,409 prospective retirees and MAF veterans who engaged with the initiative, the employment success rate demonstrates the effectiveness of structured career transition support. The programme addresses a critical need for Malaysian military personnel seeking to establish sustainable livelihoods beyond their service commitments.
The Kerjaya Kedua Perwira initiative represents a coordinated effort to equip departing military personnel with placement assistance, skills training, and employment linkages. By connecting veterans with private and public sector employers, the programme facilitates their integration into Malaysia's civilian workforce.
Official statements indicate the initiative's continued expansion, with authorities committed to increasing employment opportunities for retiring military personnel. The scheme reflects growing recognition of the need for comprehensive post-service support systems that enable veterans to leverage their discipline, training, and expertise in civilian sectors.
