Nearly RM11 billion in government aid disbursed through September

KUALA LUMPUR — The government has successfully channeled nearly RM11 billion through two major cash assistance programmes designed to provide financial relief to Malaysians, the Finance Ministry confirmed on Wednesday.

The Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) schemes, which form part of the government's targeted assistance initiatives, have reached significant milestones in their disbursement cycles. The combined payout figures, tracked through to the end of September, reflect the ministry's efforts to deliver aid to qualifying households across the country.

These assistance programmes are intended to provide immediate financial support to vulnerable and lower-income groups, addressing rising cost-of-living pressures. The ministry's announcement underscores the ongoing rollout of its social safety net initiatives aimed at easing the financial burden on Malaysian families.

Details regarding the breakdown between STR and Sara distributions, as well as the number of beneficiary households reached, were not immediately available. The Finance Ministry is expected to provide further updates on the programmes' progress in coming weeks.
