NEET-qualified student arrested for AC coach thefts to fund girlfriend's cancer treatment

The Agra Cantonment Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested two members of an inter-state theft ring operating in train AC coaches, with the primary accused identified as a NEET examination qualifier.

According to police, the accused and his accomplices conducted systematic thefts across multiple trains, targeting valuables from passengers in air-conditioned compartments. The network operated across state boundaries, indicating a coordinated criminal operation spanning multiple routes.

Investigations revealed that the main accused, despite qualifying for the prestigious NEET medical entrance examination, resorted to crime to sustain several financial commitments. These included funding an expensive lifestyle, covering losses from a hookah lounge business, and bearing the medical expenses for his girlfriend's cancer treatment, which reportedly exceeded 80 lakh rupees.

The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into railway thefts in the region. Police indicated that further arrests may follow as they continue to dismantle the gang's operations and recover stolen items.
