NEET-UG protest case: Petitioners demand reconstitution of inquiry panel

Petitioners challenging the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) examination row have moved to reconstitute the high-powered enquiry committee (HPEC) tasked with investigating the matter, asserting that the current panel may be structurally inadequate for its mandate.

According to the petition, the existing committee appears "under-equipped" to thoroughly probe the roles and actions of senior officials within the Union Executive, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi Police, and the Rapid Action Force. The petitioners argue that investigating such high-level institutional involvement requires a committee with appropriate structural authority and resources.

In their submission, the petitioners took care to distinguish their concerns about the committee's composition from any question regarding the personal competence of its members. The clarification underscores that the challenge is directed at the institutional capacity and mandate of the inquiry body rather than reflecting on individual integrity.
