SEREMBAN, Oct 3 — State officials have prioritized three key areas in their submission to the federal government ahead of Budget 2027: upgrading aging road networks, securing reliable water supplies for residents and strengthening disaster response capabilities.
The appeal comes as Negeri Sembilan faces mounting pressures on its aging infrastructure and growing water demand amid climate variability and population growth. State leaders have signaled that existing allocations are insufficient to address the scale of work needed across these critical sectors.
Road infrastructure improvements are seen as essential to boost economic connectivity and ensure safe transportation across the state's districts. Simultaneously, water security initiatives are being positioned as vital for sustaining agricultural and industrial development while meeting household needs.
Disaster preparedness enhancements would include early warning systems, evacuation infrastructure and emergency response training, particularly in flood-prone areas. Officials have emphasized that proactive investment in these areas could mitigate future economic losses and protect lives.
The submission reflects broader challenges facing Malaysian states in maintaining and expanding essential services amid fiscal constraints. State authorities are hopeful that the federal budget will recognize Negeri Sembilan's infrastructure needs and provide adequate funding support for these priority initiatives.
