The secretary of the Dewan Kemajuan Umum Negeri Sembilan (DKU N Sembilan) has moved to initiate contempt proceedings against the state Menteri Besar and several former executive council members, claiming they violated a court order protecting the development agency's administration and affairs.
According to the application, 17 individuals are alleged to have breached an interim injunction granted by the High Court on June 5. The injunction was issued to safeguard matters related to the corporation's governance and operations during the legal dispute.
The move represents an escalation in the ongoing dispute over the DKU's management and administrative authority. Contempt of court charges carry serious legal consequences and are typically pursued when parties are found to have deliberately disregarded court orders.
The case underscores ongoing tensions within Negeri Sembilan's governance structures. The High Court's June 5 interim injunction had been intended to maintain the status quo regarding the development corporation's affairs pending resolution of the underlying dispute.
No date has been set for hearing the contempt proceedings application at this time. The matter remains before the courts as the parties pursue their respective legal remedies in connection with the DKU N Sembilan's administration.
