Negeri Sembilan sacked exco members' case advances through courts

SEREMBAN — Legal proceedings related to the termination of several Negeri Sembilan executive councillors have progressed to fresh hearings in both the Federal and High Courts, marking the next phase in a closely watched constitutional dispute.

The Federal Court will conduct a case management hearing on October 23 to address procedural matters and set timelines for the dispute, according to court schedules. The case involves the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang Negeri Sembilan (DKU), the state's constitutional tribunal, along with its secretary Raja Norazli Raja Nordin.

Separately, the High Court has scheduled November 2 for hearing an application to intervene in the proceedings. The intervention bid could broaden the scope of the case by allowing additional parties to present their positions before the court.

The dismissals at the centre of the dispute have raised questions about executive authority and constitutional procedures in the state. The upcoming hearings represent a critical juncture in determining the legal status of the former office holders and the validity of their removal.

Both court dates come as stakeholders await clarity on the constitutional and administrative issues surrounding the dismissals. Legal observers suggest the Federal Court's involvement signals the significance and complexity of the case.
