The state of Negeri Sembilan has recorded a notable decrease in online crime incidents, with cases dropping by 10 per cent compared to the previous year. The reduction also reflects lower financial losses for victims across the state.

Online crime cases in Negeri Sembilan declined to 2,539 as of September, representing a decrease of 268 cases or 10 per cent from the previous corresponding period, according to official records. The downward trend signals a potential shift in cybercriminal activities in the state, though authorities continue to monitor emerging digital threats.

Beyond the reduced number of cases, the financial impact on victims has also diminished. Losses associated with online crimes fell significantly, indicating either more effective prevention measures or greater awareness among residents about cyber threats and fraud schemes.

The positive figures come as law enforcement agencies across Malaysia intensify efforts to combat digital crime. Negeri Sembilan's performance reflects coordinated initiatives between state police and federal cybercrime units to investigate and prevent internet-based offences, including phishing scams, online fraud, and data theft.

Authorities have attributed the improvements partly to increased public awareness campaigns and enhanced reporting mechanisms. Residents are now more inclined to report suspicious online activities and seek assistance through official channels rather than suffer losses silently.
