Nepal flood victims' families urged to undergo DNA testing for identification

The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) has called on families of missing persons from Nepal's recent floods to participate in DNA testing procedures. The genetic testing will serve as a crucial cross-reference tool to accurately identify victims' remains, according to the ministry's statement.
The identification process has become a priority as Nepalese authorities and international agencies work to account for those missing in the flooding disaster. DNA analysis is considered one of the most reliable methods for identifying deceased victims, particularly in cases where physical identification becomes difficult due to the condition of remains.
Families wishing to participate in the DNA testing are being asked to come forward and provide biological samples through official channels coordinated with Wisma Putra. The ministry emphasized that cooperation from relatives is essential to expedite the identification process and provide closure to grieving families.
