KUALA LUMPUR: Fifty-four Malaysian nationals remain unaccounted for following devastating flash floods that struck Nepal, with the government mobilising resources to trace the missing citizens and obtain updates on their whereabouts.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that intensive efforts are underway to locate the missing Malaysians and gather information about their current situation. The disaster has prompted urgent coordination between Malaysian authorities and their Nepali counterparts to assist those affected.
Flash flooding in mountainous regions of Nepal poses particular challenges for search and rescue operations, with difficult terrain and damaged infrastructure hampering access to affected areas. Authorities are working to establish communication with the missing individuals and provide support to Malaysian nationals in the country.
