Nepalese officials have launched an urgent evacuation campaign in affected areas after a landslide unleashed devastating floods across the region. The natural disaster swept away multiple residential structures along with critical infrastructure, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
Among the casualties of the flooding were two suspension bridges that connected remote communities, potentially complicating rescue and relief efforts in the affected zones. A hydroelectric power project also fell victim to the deluge, with facilities either destroyed or severely damaged by the force of the floodwaters.
Despite the scale of destruction, authorities reported no loss of life in the immediate aftermath of the disaster. The evacuation orders come as a precautionary measure to prevent further casualties should additional flooding or landslides occur in the region.
Nepalese disaster management teams continue to assess the full extent of damage and have mobilised resources to support displaced residents and coordinate relief operations. Local communities are being advised to move to safer ground as heavy rainfall remains a concern in the area.
