Nepal revises flood death toll upward as search efforts continue

Nepal's authorities have raised the number of people missing from recent devastating floods by nearly 1,000, now accounting for approximately 6,150 unaccounted individuals. The sharp revision reflects ongoing recovery and assessment efforts as rescue teams work through affected areas.

The casualty figures represent a combined toll across both Nepal and China, where a glacial mountain collapse on their shared border has compounded the disaster. Deaths from the disaster currently stand at 1,446 people across both nations, while the missing figure now exceeds 6,600.
