Nestle dairy whitener fails safety test at Delhi luxury hotel

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has declared a sample of Nestle India's low-fat dairy whitener collected from Hotel Lalit in Connaught Place as non-compliant with food safety standards. Laboratory analysis confirmed the product was both "unsafe" and "substandard" under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The sample was drawn from the premises of Bharat Hotels Ltd, which operates The Lalit hotel chain. Following the test results, the FSSAI provided a copy of the laboratory report to the food business operator and issued a formal notice regarding the non-compliant product.

Bharat Hotels Ltd has been given the opportunity to file an appeal against the food analyst's findings within the prescribed timeframe as per the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The notice marks the latest in a series of food safety compliance issues flagged by regulators across India's hospitality and food manufacturing sectors.
