Nestle eyes India top-five market status within near term

India's emergence as one of Nestle's five largest markets globally is now "on the horizon", CEO Philipp Navratil said Wednesday during a visit to the country. The Swiss multinational sees the Indian market as "very attractive" and expects volume-led growth supported by continued capital deployment. Navratil told a select media gathering that Nestle anticipates "plenty of growth opportunities" across India, which currently ranks among the company's top ten markets and delivered its strongest growth performance in the first half of 2026. "India is one of the highest performers of the group, and top five in terms of topline contribution is definitely on the horizon," Navratil said. The timeframe for achieving this status lies within the near term rather than the distant future, he indicated, underscoring the company's confidence in India's market trajectory. Nestle's optimism reflects broader momentum in India's consumer goods sector, where rising incomes and expanding distribution networks continue to drive demand across food and beverage categories.
