SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Smallholder farmers in Central Luzon are set to gain access to critical support services through the establishment of the Agribusiness Incubation (ABI) Center, a facility designed to help agricultural producers transition from subsistence farming to viable commercial enterprises.
The center will be constructed at the Department of Agriculture's Research Outreach Station for Lahar-Laden areas, positioning it as a regional hub for agricultural entrepreneurship. The facility aims to address longstanding challenges faced by marginal farmers, including limited market access, inadequate technical knowledge, and constrained access to financing for business expansion.
Through the incubation center, participating farmers will receive comprehensive training in agricultural business development, including enterprise planning, value addition, and market linkage strategies. The center will also provide access to shared facilities and equipment, reducing individual investment barriers for smallholders seeking to scale up operations.
Official statements indicate the center will facilitate connections between producers and potential buyers while helping farmers navigate financing options to support business growth. The initiative reflects efforts to strengthen agricultural competitiveness in the region and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for farming communities across Central Luzon.
The ABI Center represents a coordinated approach to agricultural development, combining technical expertise, infrastructure support, and business development services in a single location designed specifically for farmer-entrepreneurs.
