New highway in Vellore aims to ease Katpadi traffic congestion

A new high road connecting Sathuvachari and VIT in Vellore district has been opened to public traffic, marking a significant infrastructure development for the region. The project aims to address chronic traffic congestion in the Katpadi area and surrounding villages, which has been exacerbated by the movement of heavy trucks and commercial vehicles through residential zones.

The stretch is strategically designed to serve as an alternative route to the congested Old Katpadi Road, which has borne the brunt of commercial traffic for years. By providing a dedicated corridor for through-traffic, the new road is expected to divert substantial vehicle volumes away from densely populated areas.

Local officials anticipate the infrastructure improvement will ease travel times and reduce environmental strain in Katpadi and neighboring communities. The project represents efforts by regional authorities to manage growing transportation pressures in the Vellore district as economic activity and vehicular traffic continue to increase.
