New Jersey town invests $13.4m to protect 50 acres from housing sprawl

Denville Township has committed $13.4 million toward a significant land preservation project designed to shield approximately 50 acres from residential development. The township has already acquired 17 acres as part of the initiative, with plans to add a further 33 acres by October 2026.

The phased acquisition approach allows the township to systematically expand the preserve over the coming months, with completion targeted for late 2026. Officials have not disclosed whether additional funding may be required beyond the committed $13.4 million for ongoing maintenance and development of the public park facilities.
