New Transport Chief Dizon Dismisses Piston's Opposition to His Appointment

MANILA — Newly appointed Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon on Wednesday brushed aside objections from the transport sector group Piston regarding his reappointment to head the Department of Transportation.

Dizon said his priority is to fulfill his mandate of protecting the welfare of passengers, drivers, and transport operators. Speaking during an inspection of bus terminals, the transportation chief indicated he would proceed with his duties regardless of the criticism.

Piston, a major transport coalition, had expressed reservations about Dizon's return to the post. However, the secretary signaled his determination to move forward with his agenda for the transportation sector.

Dizon's reappointment comes as the department faces ongoing challenges in public transportation management, including bus terminal operations and the coordination of various transport service providers across the country.
