The Yeshwantpur-Madgaon Vande Bharat train, touted as one of India's premium semi-high-speed services, is facing performance concerns on the Mangaluru-Madgaon corridor. Operating data reveals the new service is significantly slower than a standard passenger train operating between Subrahmanya Road and Mangaluru Junction, raising questions about its operational efficiency on this particular segment.
The performance gap widens considerably when comparing the new service with the existing Mangaluru-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express on the Mangaluru Junction to Madgaon section. The newly launched train is running approximately one hour slower than its predecessor on this route, a marked difference for a service marketed for reduced travel times.
The underperformance has drawn attention from railway analysts and commuters who rely on the route connecting coastal Karnataka with Goa. The delays suggest potential issues with scheduling, track conditions, or operational protocols that may require intervention from railway authorities to optimize service delivery.
Indian Railways has been progressively rolling out Vande Bharat trains across multiple routes to upgrade passenger services and reduce journey times. However, the Yeshwantpur-Madgaon service indicates that performance outcomes may vary across different routes and operational conditions, highlighting the need for continuous monitoring and optimization of the newer fleet.
