The Railway Board has greenlit a new Vande Bharat Sleeper train to operate on the Bangalore-Mumbai route, marking an expansion of India's premium rail services. The service is slated to begin operations from November 1st, according to official announcements.
The new sleeper variant will substantially cut travel duration between the two metropolitan hubs. The journey is expected to be completed in approximately 16 hours, compared to 22-24 hours required by existing train services on the same corridor. This represents a significant improvement in travel efficiency for passengers commuting between the two cities.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper train is part of Indian Railways' ongoing modernization initiative to enhance passenger comfort and reduce transit times on key routes. The sleeper configuration caters to overnight travelers, offering improved amenities while maintaining the enhanced speed and reliability associated with the Vande Bharat platform.
The introduction of this service reflects Railways' strategy to upgrade connectivity between major economic centers in South and West India. The move is expected to benefit business travelers, leisure passengers, and the broader transportation ecosystem connecting Bangalore and Mumbai.
