A newborn girl admitted to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) at Ashokenagar District Hospital died under suspicious circumstances, officials said Tuesday. The child, less than 24 hours old at the time of death, was found unresponsive in the ward.
According to the postmortem examination, deep marks were visible around the infant's neck and blood was found in her mouth, indicating possible asphyxiation. Hospital authorities immediately reported the case to local police after the findings came to light.
The discovery has raised serious questions about security protocols and monitoring within the SNCU ward. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and interviewing hospital staff and family members present during the relevant time period.
