The Order of Australia is among the highest national honours bestowed by the Australian government, with the Honorary Officer designation reserved for distinguished individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Australian interests abroad.
Mr Ng, who served as Defence Minister from 2011 to 2019, oversaw a period of enhanced collaboration between Singapore's Ministry of Defence and Australian defence authorities. The strengthened relationship encompassed increased military exercises, intelligence sharing, and defence technology cooperation.
