NH authority completes land acquisition for Vellore bypass project

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has completed the land acquisition process for the proposed Vellore Town Bypass Road project in Tamil Nadu, marking a significant milestone in the infrastructure development initiative. The project, estimated at ₹1,047 crore, aims to decongest traffic in the town by providing an alternative route for through traffic.

With land acquisition now finalized, the NHAI is positioned to move forward with the detailed engineering and construction phases of the bypass road. The project is expected to improve connectivity and reduce travel time for commuters traversing the region, while simultaneously alleviating congestion in Vellore town's main commercial areas.

The bypass road is strategically designed to cater to the growing traffic demands in the region and support economic development along the corridor. Completion of the land acquisition phase removes a key administrative hurdle that often delays infrastructure projects in the state.

The project forms part of the broader national highway expansion programme aimed at strengthening road infrastructure across South India. Further timelines for project execution and commissioning are expected to be announced by the NHAI in due course.
