NHAI expands digital FASTag local pass to 121 toll plazas

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has extended its digital FASTag local pass facility to 121 toll plazas across the country, according to an official statement released Tuesday by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.

Under the initiative, commuters residing within a 20-kilometre radius of an eligible toll plaza can apply for monthly local passes directly through the Rajmargyatra Mobile App. The digital system eliminates the requirement for physical visits to toll plazas and manual submission of supporting documents, streamlining the application process for regular users.

The Digital Local Pass facility was first launched in July 2026 at the Mundka-Bakkarwala toll plaza on Urban Extension Road-II in Delhi. The rollout to additional plazas represents a significant expansion of the programme since its initial deployment.

NHAI stated that the initiative aims to enhance national highway travel by making the tolling process more seamless and citizen-centric through technology-enabled solutions. The digital framework is intended to improve transparency and operational efficiency at toll plazas while reducing friction for regular commuters on national highways.
