NIA arrests 13 across Northeast and Kerala in terror outfit crackdown

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its counter-terrorism operations with the arrest of 13 suspects allegedly connected to the banned Islamic militant outfit IMK across three states. The arrests were made following coordinated intelligence-led operations in the eastern and southern regions of India.

According to the NIA's action, eight individuals were intercepted in Assam, four were arrested in West Bengal, and one suspect was apprehended in Kerala. The agency has been investigating the network's activities and organizational structure as part of its broader efforts to dismantle extremist cells operating in the region.

The IMK outfit has been designated as a terrorist organization under Indian law. The NIA's coordinated multi-state operation underscores the agency's focus on dismantling terror networks that attempt to establish cells across state boundaries. The arrested individuals are expected to be produced before courts for further legal proceedings.

Investigations are continuing to ascertain the extent of the suspects' involvement with the organization and their operational activities. The NIA has been intensifying its surveillance and intelligence gathering operations targeting suspected terror groups in South and Southeast Asia.
