The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its counter-terrorism operations, arresting 13 suspects allegedly connected to a designated terror outfit based in Bangladesh. The multi-state operation reflects ongoing security concerns regarding cross-border militant networks operating in the region.
Manipur accounted for three of the arrests, with investigators alleging that two of those detained played roles in an ambush targeting the state's Chief Minister's convoy. Officials indicated the incident represented a significant security threat to senior government officials in the northeastern state.
The arrests come as Indian security agencies continue enhanced surveillance of suspected terrorist cells with transnational connections. The NIA's probe focuses on identifying organizational structures, financial networks, and recruitment patterns allegedly used by the Bangladesh-based outfit to operate within India.
