NIA secures non-bailable warrant against LeT founder Hafiz Saeed

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) successfully moved a Jammu court to issue the NBW against Saeed, the designated terrorist and founder of the Pakistan-based militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The agency informed the court that Saeed, who has been accused of orchestrating multiple terror attacks on Indian soil, is currently located in Pakistan and remains a fugitive from Indian law.

The NIA's application highlighted the agency's investigation into Saeed's terror activities and his role in directing LeT operations. The court accepted the agency's submissions and proceeded to issue the non-bailable warrant, marking a formal step in India's efforts to hold the terrorist accountable for his alleged crimes.

Saeed, who founded LeT in the early 1990s, is widely believed to be responsible for planning and coordinating several high-profile attacks in India, including the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks that claimed 166 lives. His designation as a terrorist by international agencies has made him a key focus of Indian security and intelligence operations.

The issuance of the NBW is expected to be transmitted through appropriate channels, though enforcement remains contingent on Saeed's presence in Indian territory or diplomatic cooperation from Pakistan, where he has maintained residence and continues to operate under varying degrees of restriction.
