The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been directed by the central government to investigate an alleged assault on Captain Smit Machar, an Indian pilot, aboard FlyDubai flight FZ1073. The incident is reported to have taken place on September 30 during a scheduled flight operation.
According to initial reports, an Omani first officer allegedly attempted to forcibly enter the cockpit and attack Captain Machar. Investigators are examining claims that the officer may have intended to hijack the aircraft or cause it to crash during the flight.
The FlyDubai incident marks a serious breach of aviation security protocols and cockpit safety procedures. The airline operates scheduled services across the Gulf region and South Asia, carrying thousands of passengers daily on international routes.
The NIA's involvement in the investigation underscores the severity with which Indian aviation authorities treat incidents involving Indian crew members and potential threats to flight safety. The agency will coordinate with international aviation bodies and UAE authorities to establish a complete factual record of the events that occurred aboard the aircraft.
