Indian stock markets showed resilience on October 23 as the Nifty 50 index held steady around the 22,600 support level, buoyed by selective buying interest despite weakness in overseas markets. The benchmark index's ability to defend this technical floor suggested underlying stability among domestic investors, even as broader global sentiment turned cautious with US equity markets trading in negative territory.
Bank Nifty, the banking sector barometer, remained under close scrutiny with analysts identifying multiple support levels that could prove crucial for market direction. The immediate floor for Bank Nifty was placed at 54,700, with a secondary support zone at 54,500, according to market observers tracking intraday movements.
The divergence between Indian and US market momentum reflected the increasing decoupling of domestic equities from global trends, as local institutional interest and retail participation continued to provide cushioning during periods of international volatility. Traders were monitoring key economic indicators and corporate earnings reports ahead of the remainder of the trading week.
Market participants cautioned that maintaining these support levels would be critical to preventing a deeper correction. Analysts advised investors to exercise caution until clearer directional cues emerged from global markets and domestic macroeconomic data.
