Authorities in Punjab have intensified their investigation into violence that broke out at Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Phagwara, with nine arrests made so far and two First Information Reports (FIRs) registered in the case.
The incident, which has drawn scrutiny for over a week, began with rumors circulating within the campus that spiraled into vandalism and property damage. Police sources indicated the situation escalated further with reports of arson during the incident.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe allegations that emerged during the unrest, including a rape complaint filed against unknown persons.
