Nine water supply projects worth RM133 million completed in Labuan

Nine water supply projects valued at RM133 million have been successfully completed in Labuan, marking a significant step toward improving the federal territory's water security and infrastructure resilience.

According to statements from the responsible ministry, the projects are critical to enhancing the dependability of water distribution across the island. The completion of these initiatives addresses long-standing concerns about supply stability in the region.

Currently, approximately 90 percent of treated water supplied to Labuan originates from the Labuan Regional Authority (LRA) in neighbouring Sabah. The newly completed projects are intended to reduce this reliance on external sources and strengthen local water management capacity.

The investment underscores the government's commitment to ensuring adequate and reliable water services for Labuan's residents and businesses. Officials have indicated that the infrastructure improvements will enhance overall service quality and reduce vulnerabilities in the supply chain.

The completion of these projects follows a broader effort across Malaysia to upgrade water infrastructure and address supply challenges in island and remote communities.
