Pathum Nissanka has been withdrawn from Sri Lanka's squad for the tri-series tournament scheduled to take place in Pakistan, with injury cited as the reason for his absence.
The opening batsman was initially selected for the limited-overs competition but will not be available for the tour as he continues his recovery.
Nissanka's absence represents a significant blow to Sri Lanka's batting lineup, as the right-hander has been a key figure in the team's recent limited-overs cricket. His withdrawal will necessitate a reshuffle of the opening partnership for the tri-series matches.
The Sri Lankan cricket selectors are expected to name a replacement for the tri-series squad ahead of the team's departure for Pakistan. The tournament will provide important preparation for Sri Lanka's upcoming international commitments in the abbreviated formats.
