NLCIL and CISF launch fire safety drive ahead of Deepavali festivities

Personnel from the CISF Fire Wing conducted a comprehensive fire safety awareness programme in coordination with NLCIL, focusing on practical skills and hazard recognition ahead of Deepavali celebrations. The initiative aims to equip households and communities with essential knowledge to prevent fire-related incidents during the festive period when fire risks typically increase due to heightened usage of electrical appliances, lighting, and cooking equipment.

Demonstrations formed a key component of the awareness drive, with CISF experts walking participants through critical safety procedures. Trainees learned proper protocols for managing liquefied petroleum gas leaks, a common household hazard, and received hands-on instruction in containing and extinguishing fires originating from domestic LPG cylinders. The programme also covered fire containment techniques for electrical equipment-related incidents, which frequently occur in Indian households during the festival season.

Participants were trained in the correct use and maintenance of fire extinguishers, emphasizing the importance of rapid response and proper technique in controlling small fires before they escalate. The CISF experts stressed that early intervention with appropriate firefighting equipment can prevent minor incidents from developing into serious conflagrations.

Official sources indicated that such awareness programmes form part of broader public safety initiatives undertaken during festive seasons when residential fire incidents and related casualties typically surge. The collaborative effort between NLCIL and CISF reflects a growing emphasis on community-level fire safety preparedness across industrial and domestic sectors in India.
