MANILA — NLEX Corp. announced Friday that electric vehicle charging stations are now operational at six tollway service facilities along the North Luzon Expressway, marking a milestone in the highway operator's efforts to support the growing EV market in the Philippines.
The six stations collectively provide 20 charging points with varying power capacities, ranging from 22 kilowatts to 240 kilowatts, accommodating different vehicle types and charging requirements. The infrastructure is accessible to both northbound and southbound motorists at designated service stops along the corridor.
The highway operator plans to enhance its charging network further, with two additional stations scheduled to become operational by December. This phased expansion aligns with broader industry trends toward increased electrification of vehicle fleets and improved charging accessibility along major transportation routes.
The initiative positions NLEX as a key player in supporting the transition to electric vehicles in the Philippines, addressing a critical gap in charging infrastructure for long-distance travel. As EV adoption accelerates nationwide, tollway service facilities represent strategic locations for charging stations, enabling seamless travel for electric vehicle owners on intercity routes.
