NLEx San Simon section remains waterlogged despite overnight drainage efforts

Parts of the Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEx) in San Simon, Pampanga remained submerged with floodwaters on Friday, September 4, hampering vehicular movement on one of the country's busiest highways.
According to an advisory issued by the NLEx Corporation at 7 a.m., water buildup persisted on all northbound and southbound lanes at the San Simon section. The corporation did not immediately provide details on when the flooding began or its cause, though heavy rainfall in the region over preceding days likely contributed to the waterlogging.
The persistent flooding forced the corporation to caution motorists traveling through the area to exercise increased vigilance and prepare for potential traffic congestion. Commuters were advised to allow extra travel time for their journeys along the expressway.
The NLEx remains a critical transportation link connecting Metro Manila to northern provinces including Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, and Nueva Vizcaya. Disruptions along the corridor typically affect commercial operations and daily commutes for thousands of travelers.
